IMPORTANT NOTICE
The West African Examinations Council wishes to bring to the attention of the general public and its stakeholders that, to be eligible to write the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School Candidates (WASSCE – SC), a student must:
- Complete the full three-year Senior High School programme i.e. (October, 2024 to May, 2027) in a recognised Senior High School, public or private.
- Have Continuous Assessment Scores (CASS) for each term/semester from Form 1 to 3 uploaded onto WAEC’s CASS portal.
- Have the CASS records in a minimum of 7 subjects and a maximum of 8 (4 Core Subjects and 3 or 4 Elective Subjects).
- Where applicable, have relevant transfer documentation and CASS records from his/her previous school.
- Not have sat for the WASSCE (SC) previously in the last 3 years (2024 – 2026).
WASSCE for Private Candidates
Any person who wishes to sit for the WASSCE for School Candidates (WASSCE (SC)) but does not meet 1 – 5 above, may opt for the WASSCE for Private Candidates (WASSCE(PC)).
The WASSCE (PC) is conducted twice a year:
- PC 1: Conducted from January to March.
- PC 2: Conducted from August to October.
Important Reminder
The general public and our various stakeholders are to note that the registration of all ineligible candidates shall be annulled by the Council (WAEC).
NB: Biodata of candidates will not be amended from the 2nd year and any school that registers unqualified candidates shall be de-recognised.
